About KEF

URGENT NEED OF MONEY:  As of January 2009 KEF had only $6,000 in the bank and needs $167,000 for well-defined projects, including $16,000 to supply a daily meal to 1,300 students (see "PROJECTS" and "Contribute" links). Your donations go a long way in Malawi:

  • $12.50 feeds one student for one year.
  • $35 to $70 finances a loan to a family-business (they'll pay it back within one year).
  • $200-300 funds a scholarship for one year in high school.
  • $600 funds training for a teacher for one year.
  • $7,425 funds micro-loans for 160 family businesses, an average of $46 per loan which will be paid back and recycled into new loans.
  • $14,000 funds the construction of a 2-classroom building with villagers building the bricks (need for the High School: one per year for 4 years)
  • $33,000 funds the solar-wind generator for electrification of the school, including the powering for a plumbed water system from the well pump.
